A 15,000-kilometer link to enhance bandwidth between Asia and Europe
China Mobile International Limited (CMI) has officially launched the PEACE (Pakistan and East Africa Connecting Europe) submarine cable, linking Singapore and France over a vast 15,000-kilometer stretch. The cable aims to enhance global connectivity by extending its reach to Malaysia and several other European countries, fostering seamless and efficient communication between the two continents.
Expanding the Horizons of Connectivity
The PEACE submarine cable was built with the collaboration of CMI and 11 global partners. This state-of-the-art cable is designed to offer open, neutral, and flexible connectivity services to a wide range of users, including carriers, OTT service providers, and enterprises across the globe. The key objective of the PEACE cable is to provide low-latency, high-quality bandwidth between Asia and Europe, meeting the growing demand for data transmission between the two regions.
Leveraging New Routes for Enhanced Performance
One of the defining features of the PEACE cable is its utilization of the New Egypt Crossing. Unlike traditional routes, which rely on either the northern or southern paths across Egypt, this new crossing employs fully diversified terrestrial cables. This strategic decision enhances the cable’s performance by improving security and ensuring reduced latency, delivering reliable services to meet the critical connectivity needs of businesses and service providers.
With the integration of the PEACE cable, CMI further strengthens its global presence, expanding its capacity to provide high-performance connectivity solutions in a fast-evolving digital landscape. The combination of PEACE with CMI’s existing AAE-1 and SMW5 cables creates three distinct routes between Asia and Europe. This upgrade boosts network resilience, guaranteeing stable and reliable data transmission.
Strengthening International Network Capabilities
CMI’s investment in submarine cables is just one part of its broader strategy to solidify its international operations. The company’s self-built fiber optic ring systems in Singapore, Malaysia, and Europe enhance connectivity by linking various data centers across these regions. These systems enable CMI to offer customized PoP-to-PoP (Point of Presence) solutions, providing businesses with flexible and scalable bandwidth services.
CMI’s commitment to developing robust international connectivity is reflected in its extensive infrastructure network, which includes more than 90 submarine and terrestrial cable system resources. These systems connect 78 countries, offering a total international transmission bandwidth exceeding 150 Terabits. Moreover, with 310 overseas PoPs and self-owned data centers in key cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and Frankfurt, CMI is well-positioned to meet the increasing demands for global data transmission.
Commitment to Global Partners
In recent years, CMI has continued to enhance its international capabilities, developing large-scale consumer, carrier, and enterprise businesses. By providing fast, secure, and high-quality connectivity services, CMI is dedicated to supporting its global partners with reliable bandwidth solutions.
CMI’s international expansion is crucial in today’s digitally connected world, and the activation of the PEACE submarine cable represents a significant milestone in its mission to foster global connectivity. This cable will provide a much-needed boost to bandwidth between Asia and Europe, further reinforcing the company’s role as a leader in global telecommunications infrastructure.
