Highgate’s Expansion in Algarve
Highgate, a leading player in hotel management, investment, technology, and development, has unveiled the rebranding of four properties within its portfolio in the Algarve region of Portugal. These properties will operate under the Marriott International umbrella and are strategically located in the Salgados Beach resort area. The rebranded establishments include the Westin Salgados Beach Resort, Algarve; The Residences at The Westin Salgados Beach Resort, Algarve; Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Conference Center; and Marriott Residences Salgados Resort, Algarve. This marks a significant milestone as these will be the inaugural Highgate-managed properties in Portugal to join Marriott International’s esteemed portfolio.
Enhancing Guest Experiences
With the rebranding initiative, these four properties will adhere to the brand standards set by Westin and Marriott Hotels. This alignment aims to elevate guest experiences and uphold service excellence. Highgate Portugal is set to manage extensive redesigns of each property’s public spaces, guest accommodations, and dining outlets, creating modern and inviting environments. Renovation work is anticipated to commence in late 2024, with the aim of reopening all four properties in 2025.

The Westin Salgados Beach Resort, Algarve will serve as a premium beachfront destination, featuring 95 elegantly appointed rooms and suites, alongside 42 residences. This resort is designed to cater to both couples and families, offering direct beach access, six outdoor swimming pools, and proximity to the celebrated 18-hole Salgados Golf Course. Guests can also benefit from the Westin Kids Club and an array of signature Westin Wellness programmes, which include a WestinWORKOUT® fitness studio, the Heavenly® Spa, and RunWESTIN™ running routes.

The Residences at the Westin Salgados Beach Resort will provide a unique opportunity for beachfront living within a resort atmosphere, with options ranging from one to three-bedroom residences available for private purchase.
A Premier Conference and Event Space
The Algarve Marriott Salgados Golf Resort & Conference Center is distinguished as the premier conference venue in the Algarve, offering stunning vistas of both the beach and the golf course. The resort features 228 rooms and suites, complemented by versatile meeting spaces and a 1,598-seat auditorium. Guests will enjoy premium amenities, including four outdoor pools and a fully-equipped spa, complete with a heated pool, jacuzzi, and various treatment rooms.
Family-Friendly Amenities at Marriott Residences
Completing the Salgados Beach resort complex, the Marriott Residences Salgados Resort comprises 192 residences conveniently located near the golf course and within walking distance of the beach. These family-friendly residences, available for private sale, range from Junior Suites to three-bedroom suites. Enhanced amenities for residence guests encompass a variety of sports facilities, including an outdoor gym, volleyball, tennis, and football courts. The resort also features 10 outdoor pools and a Kids Club with a playground, mini golf, and other family-oriented entertainment options.
